You could say my current health and fitness journey started upon entering college as a freshman football player weighing 190.  I played defensive tackle but once my college football career was over I gained weight rapidly. By the time I was 22, I stopped weighing myself. I was close to 300 lbs. I fell into the trap of if I don't weigh, then I don't see it and if I don't see it, it doesn't matter and it didn't happen. I was battling depression while trying to start a life on my own. I was facing all of the firsts life throws at us: first time out in the real world on my own, first apartment, and first real job.  I had tried on my own to lose weight and get healthy time and time again. I had a hard time finding a fitness program that worked for me. I just couldn't make any real progress or even seem to keep what little progress I had made. Relapses seemed to occur far too often.  

As luck would have it I met Drew while working. I had never heard of Be Strong or functional training gyms. Although some of what Drew told me about Be Strong was similar to the type of athletic training I had done in the past. The same programs that kept me healthy, happy, and lean most of my life. 

I jumped right into training at Be Strong. I was excited to once again be a apart of a group training program but at the same time I was nervous because I knew how out of shape I was. My first week was the worst, the hardest, but the greatest week of my life!!! I took incredible pride in getting active again pushing myself to stay committed. The Be Strong coaches kept pushing me to find my limits but not pushing me too far too fast. After about 6 months I had lost 100lbs and felt healthier, happier, and stronger than I had in years. That year when the holidays came financial stress and other life obligations kept me away from Be Strong. Drew reached out to me more then a few times while I couldn't train. He always asked how I was doing and how was my health and happiness. Knowing that I wasn't alone in the struggle to be better brought me back. 

Then it all clicked. I really started to understand what Be Strong was about. At Be Strong all are in this together!! I opened up socially and made friends with the great members and found a group of people who really care. Fitness can be boring but Be Strong prevents that by always teaching new skills and changing the workouts so it's not the same thing every time. Providing opportunities to compete as an athlete in many sports and realms of athletics. Now I am 24, been at Be Strong for a little over 2 years and always getting better. The members and coaches who care, lots of fun and new things everyday are why I have and will continue to have success in fitness with Be Strong.
