Athletic Performance and Background:

2015 Coach Drew Became a Hybrid athlete

A hybrid athlete is a unique breed who can excel simultaneously in both extreme strength and extreme endurance activities.

In 2015:

  • Deadlifted 635lbs then ran a 6:33 mile with only a 3 minute exchange time between on 3/28/15.
  • Completed 5k in 27 minutes, followed by a 600lb deadlift on 5/6/15.
  • Completed a first Duathlon on 6/6/15.
  • Deadlifted a life time personal record 800lbs followed by a 20 mile bike ride on 5/23/15.
  • Completed a half marathon with the “Iron Cowboy” within 24 hrs of deadlifting 610lbs for 2 single reps on 6/21/15.
  • Deadlifted 650 pounds followed by a 100 mile bike ride on 7/4/15
  • Deadlifted 650lbs for the Illinois State Record in USPA on 8/15/2015. The next weekend completed 21.25 miles in the painful elimination trail run on 8/22/15
  • Ruck Run 5k while carrying 100 pounds, completed in under 1 hour, winning heaviest weight carried on 11/7/15.
  • Set USS state record in deadlift with 685lbs and set USS state record in 18" deadlift all on 12/19/15. Then, ran 10 miles the next day.

In 2017: 

  • Deadlift 660lbs at the body weight of 220 for a National Record in WUAP on 2/26/17.

In his first year as a hybrid athlete, Drew's training methods and success were used as a case study in a Complete Human Performance seminar: "An Introduction to Applied Hybrid Training Methodology" - "Understanding and Programming Concurrent Strength and Endurance Training."

 Which is designed to educate the fitness community on endurance training for strength athletes, and how to train multi sport athletes.

  • Completed Warrior Leadership Course in Wisconsin, achieving military physical fitness standards
  • Military physical fitness test score of 357-record for the 656th (rebuild)
  • 100 push up 2 minutes, 103 sit ups 2 minutes, 12:04 two mile run
  • Awarded the Military Physical Fitness patch for scoring 90% or higher in pushups, sit ups, and 2 mile run at Basic Training
  • Awarded the Military Physical Fitness patch for scoring 90% or higher in push ups, sit ups, and 2 mile run at Advance Individual Training
  • Awarded Military Physical Fitness patch for scoring 90% or higher in pushups, sit ups, and 2 mile run at MOB (2006)

Strongman/Powerlifting:

  • Competed in 16 open strongman shows and 3 novice strongman shows. Placed in strongman shows 1st 10 times, 2nd place 3 times, and 3rd place only once. Always has made the podium in open strongman shows.
  • Probody Solutions sponsored strongman athlete for 3 years.
  • Deadlift 455x17 in a minute record in 200lb class, 18" deadlift 755 record in 200lb class.
  • Axle clean and press for reps 200×11 in a minute record in 200lb class, best axle press 305lbs, best log press 300lbs, best circus dumbbell press 185lbs.
