I sustained a running injury and the PT suggested I needed more cross training. I was unsure, a little scared but I took a chance and joined Be Strong. I dropped weight, gained muscle, built confidence and my running has improved.
Over my adult life, I've felt like I've been constantly battling my weight. About 3 years ago, I started running and found that I actually enjoy that. In the summer of 2016, I sustained a running injury that put me in physical therapy and kept me out for 8 weeks. In PT, they suggested I needed more cross training. My running buddies kept encouraging me to join them at Be Strong, but it took me until November to walk in the door. To be honest, I felt unsure and a little bit intimidated to try this, but I'm so glad I took the chance. I didn't know it at the time, but my journey was not only to improve physically but to improve mentally. With the help of the coaches and athletes at Be Strong, I've been able to do both. My running is improving and I'm starting to drop weight and gain muscle. But what you don't see is the confidence I'm gaining - both inside and outside the gym. This quote sums it up for me. "Strength doesn't come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn't." My journey is not over by far and I'm excited to find what else I can conquer.
